In Year Admissions

Please use one of the links for the three dates below to register your daughter for the relevant in Year Entrance Examination for the academic year, 2025 - 2026. Late applications cannot be considered.

Loreto is a selective Catholic Grammar School and as such an Entrance Examination needs to be taken. Whilst your daughter is welcome to sit the In Year Entrance Examination, the School is fully over-subscribed in all year groups, and you should be aware that even if successful, we will be unable to offer her a place at Loreto Grammar School and her name will be placed on our Waiting List. Priority is given to Catholic girls if a place does become available.

We do not accept applications from students currently in Year 10 and Year 11.

Your daughter must leave a minimum of twelve months between sitting examinations. If you register her for an examination prior to this, her name shall be withdrawn from the corresponding examination.

Wednesday 5th November 2025 In year EE for current Year 8 and 9.	REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED
Wednesday 25th February 2026 In year EE for current Year 7, 8 and 9. Registration opens at 10:00am on 5th January 2026. To register, please click here. Your daughter's original Baptism Certificate should be sent to Loreto Grammar School at the time you register your daughter for the Entrance Examination. Please also supply a stamped addressed envelope for its return. This then completes the registration process.  Please do not send in your daughter's baptism certificate until you have registered her for the examination.  If your daughter was unsuccessful in the Entrance Examination 2024 for Year 7 entry in September 2025, the earliest date she can sit the Entrance Examination again will be in the summer term when she is in Year 7, ie, April 2026.	23rd January 2026 10:00am
Wednesday 29th April 2026 Late Entrance Examination for current Year 6 students. Registration opens at 10:00am on 23rd Feburary 2026. To register, please click here. This examination is for candidates who DID NOT sit the Entrance Examination in September 2025. For further details, please click here. If your daughter was unsuccessful in the Entrance Examination 2025 for Year 7 entry in September 2026, the earliest date she can sit the Entrance Examination again will be in the summer term when she is in Year 7, ie, April 2027. The format of the Examination for each year group is as follows:

In Year - Current Year 7 - Closed internal English and Mathematics papers - 45 minutes for each paper.

In Year - Current Year 8 - Closed internal English and Mathematics papers - 45 minutes for each paper and closed internal MFL (Modern Foreign Language) paper - 30 minutes. The MFL task should be completed in the language currently being studied. This may be French, German or Spanish.

In Year - Current Year 9 - Closed internal English and Mathematics papers - 45 minutes length for each paper and closed internal MFL (Modern Foreign Language) paper - 30 minutes. The MFL task should be completed in the language currently being studied. This may be French, German or Spanish.

As these papers are closed, in-house prepared papers, there are no familiarisation materials available.
