In Year Admissions
Loreto is a selective Catholic Grammar School and as such an Entrance Examination needs to be taken. The School is fully over-subscribed in all year groups, and you should be aware that if successful, we will be unable to offer a place at Loreto Grammar School, and the candidates name will be placed on our Waiting List.
Priority is given to Catholic girls if a place does become available.
How to apply
Please use one of the links below to register your daughter for the relevant in Year Entrance Examination for the academic year, 2025 - 2026. Late applications cannot be considered.
An application made via Trafford Council Application Portal does not mean your daughter is registered for the In Year Entrance Examination, you must register her using the Registration Forms below.
Please note:
Candidates may only sit one In Year Entrance Examination per academic year.
Candidates must leave a minimum of twelve months between sitting examinations. If you register her for an examination prior to this, her name shall be withdrawn from the corresponding examination.
If your daughter was unsuccessful in the Entrance Examination 2024 for Year 7 entry in September 2025, the earliest date she can sit the Entrance Examination again will be in the summer term when she is in Year 7, ie, April 2026.
We do not accept applications from students currently in Year 10 and Year 11.

Examination Format for each Year Group
In Year - Current Year 7:
Closed internal English and Mathematics papers - 45 minutes for each paper.
In Year - Current Year 8:
Closed internal English and Mathematics papers - 45 minutes for each paper and closed internal MFL (Modern Foreign Language) paper - 30 minutes.
The MFL task should be completed in the language currently being studied. This may be French, German or Spanish.
In Year - Current Year 9:
Closed internal English and Mathematics papers - 45 minutes length for each paper and closed internal MFL (Modern Foreign Language) paper - 30 minutes.
The MFL task should be completed in the language currently being studied. This may be French, German or Spanish.
These papers are all closed, in-house prepared papers, and there are no familiarisation materials available.
